How We Connect

Community through Collaboration

In approaching theatrical production and in response to the a need for developing the new, young leaders of color, Project PanAMERICAN looks to function through collaborative mentorship.

  • The primary goal of production is to create an exciting and entertaining multidisciplinary experience through dance, theatre and music rooted in our collective experiences and collaboratively created performance vocabulary.

  • The larger objective is to use the show as a beacon of creative productive hope for young BIPOC artists. By also providing employment opportunities in performance, design and production, we can also help ensure a brighter future of skilled, knowledgeable and accountable young men and women who can learn, create and develop the societal structures necessary to not only counter societal oppression, but prevent it all together.

It’s not always serious… sometimes we’re just having fun! This is collaboration, too!

Empowerment through Employment

There is a fundamental benefit to not simply addressing systemic racism, but replacing the destructive nature of it with a constructive system of BIPOC craftspersons in a sustainable scalable and replicable network. the benefits of active mentorship are myriad in their application.

Paid young collaborators:

  • Help articulate what the world needs

  • Help professionals articulate their skills and access the appropriate resources and means for solving problems

  • Hold each other accountable for articulating in craft, care and dialogue

  • Learn skills at an at best, 1:1 or at worst a 1:3 ratio

  • Rehearse, learn and build in studio and on location, gaining professional experience

  • Become artists/craftsmen of note as project develops into production and performance

It is not imperative that all young people become artist. It is imperative for us to find opportunities for our young collaborators to become assets to their respective communities and the larger global society as a whole. It is our ethos that the great carpenter is of no less value than a great dancer. By connecting young people with skilled laborers, we create a skilled and proficient workforce for the future.
